The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has issued disciplinary fines to Ratchaburi FC and Persib Bandung following clashes between supporters of both clubs after their match in the AFC Champions League Two 2025/26 Round of 16 first-leg encounter.
The incident occurred after the match played on 11 February, where tensions between the two sets of fans escalated into confrontations.
According to the AFC’s disciplinary ruling, Ratchaburi FC were fined US$5,000 (approximately RM20,155) for failing to properly control their supporters, which led to altercations with the opposing fans.
Meanwhile, Persib Bandung received a larger fine of US$8,750 (approximately RM35,271) for the same offense — failing to control their fans and involvement in post-match disturbances.
The higher penalty for the Indonesian side was due to repeat violations, as the incident marked Persib Bandung’s fourth disciplinary offense of a similar nature. Under AFC regulations, repeated violations trigger an additional 25% increase in fines for each recurrence.
The disciplinary case may not yet be fully closed for Persib Bandung.
Another incident linked to the Round of 16 second leg between the same two teams, played on 18 February in Bandung, is still under review by the AFC.
Should further violations be confirmed, Persib Bandung could face additional sanctions, potentially including heavier fines or other disciplinary measures.
The ruling reinforces the AFC’s stance that clubs must take full responsibility for the behaviour of their supporters, particularly in high-profile continental competitions.
