Malaysian women’s doubles pair Pearly Tan and M. Thinaah delivered another gutsy and inspiring performance to book their spot in the final of the 2025 Indonesia Open, marking their third final appearance this season.

The world No. 4 duo overcame early nerves and a stern challenge from China’s Li Yi Jing and Luo Xu Min, clawing back from a game down to secure a hard-fought 12-21, 21-17, 21-11 victory in a 63-minute semi-final clash at the iconic Istora Senayan.

After a shaky start in the first game, Pearly-Thinaah regrouped brilliantly in the second, adjusting their tactics to gain momentum. With renewed aggression and tighter court control, they edged the second game before blazing to an 8-0 lead in the decider, ultimately sealing the match with authority.

Their comeback under pressure showcased not just skill, but the growing maturity and resilience of the Malaysian duo, who are now firmly establishing themselves among the world’s elite.

This run to the final comes on the heels of their title triumph at the Thailand Open last month and further cements their status as one of Malaysia’s top medal prospects for the upcoming major championships.

Standing between Pearly-Thinaah and the title will be either world No. 1 Liu Sheng Shu–Tan Ning (China) or world No. 3 Baek Ha Na–Lee So Hee (South Korea) – two formidable pairs who have historically proven difficult for the Malaysians to overcome.
