Sabah FC has officially announced that head coach Datuk Ong Kim Swee will not be renewing his contract with the club, which concludes on 30 November 2024.
His final match in charge was the Malaysia Cup Round of 16 clash against PT Athletic FC on 23 November.
In a statement, Sabah FC management expressed their respect for Ong’s decision and highlighted his remarkable contributions during his tenure.
Datuk Ong Kim Swee has left an indelible mark on Sabah FC, playing a pivotal role in the club’s growth and success. Under his guidance: Sabah secured top-three finishes in the Super League in 2022 and 2023 and reached the AFC Cup semi-finals, a significant milestone in the club’s history. His leadership not only elevated the team’s performance but also strengthened the bond between the club and its supporters.
Sabah FC extended their heartfelt gratitude to Ong for his dedication and hard work, stating: “His leadership and commitment have greatly impacted the Sabah football team and its community. We wish him every success in his future endeavors.”
With Ong’s departure, the club has begun the search for an interim head coach to oversee the remainder of the Super League and Malaysia Cup campaigns. The management is committed to ensuring continuity and maintaining the team’s competitive edge.
