Park Hang-Seo, Head coach of Vietnam national team revealed have 8 players in the team has found infected COVID-19. And now have to call up young players to replace for play in 2022 World Cup Asian Qualfiers 3rd round, match vs Oman tomorrow.
Now, Vietnam has eliminated, but they just collect first 3 point in the tournament after win China 3-1 at My Dinh stadium, Hanoi on 1 February 2022.
“Currently, the situation of Vietnam national team is not good, not only because of injuries but also Covid-19. Quite a few players are quarantined, which affects the strength of the team. TelVN gathered before 10-12 days before the match, but there was a club to match the V-League, so TelVN had many problems.” Park Hang-Seo said on pre-match press conference.
“After losing 7 matches, Vietnam Tel won the first match against China. As for the match against Oman, the last match at home, the team’s overall situation is not good. But we will do our best, even if we don’t know the outcome in advance.”
“Currently we have 8 players quarantined because of Covid-19, we have to call up young players to replace. Whether U23 players can play or not, I can hardly reveal. This afternoon, we will practice and review the situation before deciding on the lineup.”
“As a coach, no matter what tournament or class, whether the opponent is strong or weak, we are always stressed and worried. Tomorrow we play at home, the home fans always want to win. The force situation is not good. Tomorrow’s results don’t know yet, but we’re trying to do the best we can.”
“The match against Oman, the opponent ranked FIFA higher than us. But they are not too strong opponents for the national team to worry about. We have nothing to fear. I am only worried about the injury situation of key players such as Van Lam, Van Duc, Dinh Trong… Besides, we have 8 players with COVID-19.”
“The absence of key players puts the team under a lot of pressure. I don’t know if the replacement can fill the void left by the main player. I hope they do well. I also expect them to be good to create healthy competition. I don’t know how they play, because they are young players with little experience.”
“As for the pressure issue, I already answered it earlier. I’ve lived with it all along, no problem, it’s a profession. It’s just that we do it so that the fans don’t disappoint. Again, my biggest concern is the team’s injury and Covid-19 situation.”
Vietnam will face Oman in 2022 World Cup Asian Qualifiers round 3 group B matchday 9 on 24 March 8.00 pm at My Dinh Stadium, Hanoi.
