Former Malaysia national team head coach Kim Pan-Gon has been officially relieved of his duties as head coach of Ulsan HD FC, following a series of disappointing performances that failed to meet the club’s expectations.
According to a report by Sports Seoul, the decision came in the wake of Ulsan’s lackluster outings in both the AFC Champions League Elite and the FIFA Club World Cup 2025, where the team’s performances fell short of the ambitious targets set by the club.
Kim Pan-Gon, who returned to South Korea after a notable stint with Harimau Malaya, was appointed with high hopes but ultimately could not deliver the results expected by Ulsan’s management and supporters.
In a swift move to steady the ship, Ulsan HD is now reportedly preparing to appoint Shin Tae-yong, former head coach of the Indonesian national team, as Kim’s successor. Shin, known for his tactical versatility and development of young talent, is expected to bring fresh energy and direction to the team.
