Malaysian Football League (MFL) revealed in season 2023 will pay to distribute RM15.675 million to all 14 clubs in Liga Super Malaysia season 2023. Increase of 96.55% compared to the distributed in last season (RM7.975 million).
This is the first time have introduced a merit-based income distribution from the MFL’s income results according to the top position up to the 14th-placed club in the League.
This season’s distribution allows the top 6 clubs in the league to have the opportunity to bring home more than RM1 million while the lowest-ranked team is also able to bring home at least RM600,000 compared to only RM250,000 in 2022.
“It will be distributed to each club based on their performance at the end of the season,” said MFL CEO Stuart Ramalingam.
“This does not include the winning money to the MFL Cup champion and runner-up of RM500,000 and RM250,000, thus making the total additional distribution total of RM7,700,000.”
“This income distribution system is seen as fairer for clubs that have shown excellent performance throughout the 2023 Malaysia League season.”
“The presentation got quite a good reaction and they accepted the merit-based income distribution proposal to be introduced this year.”
“The MFL sees this income distribution system as encouraging all clubs to compete fiercely to get the best position and thus receive more income,” said MFL President, Datuk Ab Ghani Hassan.
“It is MFL’s responsibility as the governing body of the league to try to increase the income of the clubs and we believe that with the cooperation of corporate companies and broadcasting partners, the Malaysian League can continue to be commercialized to increase the income of the clubs.”
