Kuala Lumpur City needs to find RM2 million to pay off and solve the ‘debt’ owed to players and coaching teams.
However, Khalid Abdul Samad, President of the Kuala Lumpur Football Association (KLFA), is optimistic that the arrears will be resolved because they have been in the same situation for several seasons. And denied rumors that the team had a salary arrears of up to four months because based on the contract, they only had to pay salaries for October and November.
“We asked for RM10 million but only got RM6 million and an additional RM2 million for being an ambassador for Low Carbon Kuala Lumpur. Overall, we got RM8 million, so now we are short of another RM2 million to pay salaries.” President KLFA said.
“In essence, according to the original contract, the season was up to November 30, so the outstanding debt was not for October or November. But because of the change in season, league rivals were delayed until December.”
“So we have to accommodate a little for December, and we will hold negotiations with the players because this matter is outside the contract. Whatever, we are sure we can resolve it before the date stated in the Malaysian Football League (MFL) letter.”
“Lack of money is a normal situation in KLFA and KL City FC, but we prioritize football because we need to understand that for the 2023 season, we need to add one more team, namely the U23 squad.”
