Malaysia U19 national team through to the semi-final even tied with Thailand U19 national team scoring 1-1 in the ASEAN U19 Boys Championship 2024 Group Stage, Group C at Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium, Surabaya.
Juan Torres’ protégés faced an early challenge as Thailand’s Gajah Penang squad opened the scoring in the 5th minute, with Caelan Tanadon beating Faez Iqhwan for the first goal of the match. The first half ended with Thailand leading 1-0.
Malaysia U19 redoubled their efforts in the second half and managed to equalize three minutes in. Despite a series of attempts by Malaysia’s young players, the resolute defense of Thailand’s U19 team thwarted further scoring opportunities.
The match ended in a 1-1 draw after five minutes of added time, which wasn’t enough to change the outcome. Malaysia finished Group C with 7 points, topping the group, followed by Thailand, who also accumulated 7 points.
