Fairuz Zakaria has officially signed with Brunei DPMM FC ahead of the Liga Super Malaysia 2025/26 season, marking a significant step in his professional career.
The 27-year-old defender’s move was confirmed by DPMM FC through an official statement published on their club website.
“Fairuz Zakaria has agreed to join DPMM FC for the 2025/26 Malaysia Super League season,” the club announced.
In a boost for the Brunei-based outfit, DPMM highlighted that Malaysian players, like Bruneians, will be classified as local players under the current league regulations — an advantage that broadens their recruitment options.
“Bruneian and Malaysian players are considered locals for the Super League season, which is good news for us. Fairuz becomes the first Malaysian to be listed in the DPMM FC squad. He featured regularly for Penang FC last season, and we look forward to seeing him shine in DPMM colours.”
Fairuz was a mainstay in Penang FC’s 2024/25 campaign, registering 23 appearances and providing three assists. However, he was among the 22 players released by the club as part of a major squad overhaul heading into the new season.
Alongside Fairuz, Penang FC also bid farewell to several key names, including goalkeeper Sikh Izhan Nazrel, Richmond Ankrah, Rodrigo Dias, Neto, and Syamer Kutty Abba.
