The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has acknowledged the ruling delivered by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) on March 5, 2026, concerning the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) and several Malaysian players in relation to alleged breaches of the FIFA Disciplinary Code.
In an official statement, the AFC confirmed that the matter will now be formally referred to the AFC Disciplinary and Ethics Committee for further consideration and possible action.
The continental governing body also emphasized its standard protocol regarding ongoing cases, stating that it will not provide further comments while investigations and disciplinary proceedings remain active within the committee.
Following the CAS ruling, the situation has now shifted to the disciplinary framework of the AFC, which is responsible for handling ethical and regulatory matters involving member associations and players competing under its competitions.
The AFC Disciplinary and Ethics Committee will review the details of the case, including the CAS findings related to alleged violations of the FIFA Disciplinary Code, before determining whether any sanctions or further actions are warranted.
The development places the spotlight on Malaysian football governance as the process moves forward. While the AFC has not disclosed specific details about the individuals involved, the case relates to disciplinary breaches connected to players registered under the Football Association of Malaysia.
As proceedings continue, the outcome could carry implications for both the national association and the players concerned, depending on the committee’s final verdict.
For now, the AFC maintains its stance of non-interference and confidentiality, allowing the disciplinary process to proceed independently.
