Taichung Bluewhale club from Chinese Taipei won the first 3 points after beating ISPE FC from Myanmar. with a score of 3-2 in the AFC Women’s Club Championship 2022 Pilot-Tournament East Zone at the Chonburi Stadium, Thailand.
After inclement weather forced the match to be postponed to Tuesday, Blue Whale got off to a fiery start when the tie recommenced at the 22nd minute mark, when an errant back pass by Ei Ei Kyawalmost almost proved costly for ISPE but Khin Pyae Lin was quick to clear the danger.
Blue Whale, who started with Thailand national team regulars Intamee and Pitsamai Sornsai, had their first look at goal a minute later when Yu-hsuan tried to catch Zu Latt Nadi from distance but the alert ISPE custodian easily saved the effort.
ISPE tried their best to gain a foothold but couldn’t deny Blue Whale, who scored just before the half-hour mark when Intamee sent a delightful cross into the box with Yu-hsuan capitalising on Khin Pyae Lin’s poor clearance to find the back of the net.
Intamee then etched her name on the scoresheet in style when she collected Liu Chien-yun’s pass at the edge of the area before evading her marker to curl her shot past a diving Zu in the 32nd minute.
ISPE, however, responded a minute later when Nant May Thazin sent a dangerous cross into the box which fell perfectly for captain Marlar Tun, who redirected the ball into the back of the net at full stretch.
ISPE continued their same approach in the second half and levelled the score in the 58th minute with Nant May Thazin providing the cross for Yee Tun to nod home past Blue Whale keeper Nattaruja Muthtanawech.
Blue Whale restored their one-goal advantage two minutes later when Intamee burst inside the box before slotting the ball through to an unmarked Yu-hsuan for an easy finish.
ISPE will be looking to bounce back when they take on College of Asian Scholars on Thursday, while Blue Whale will emerge the East champions if they beat the Thailand side on Sunday.
