Malaysia’s rising Moto3 sensation Hakim Danish Ramli continued his remarkable rookie campaign by securing a direct place in Qualifying 2 Group (Q2) after finishing seventh overall in the Practice (PR) session at the Moto3 German Grand Prix at Sachsenring, Hohenstein-Ernstthal.
Representing AEON Credit–MT Helmets–MSi, the 18-year-old adapted quickly to one of the most technically demanding venues on the calendar despite making his first-ever appearance at Sachsenring, the shortest circuit currently used in the MotoGP World Championship.
Hakim approached the opening Free Practice 1 session with a clear objective—to learn every corner of the unique, left-hand dominant circuit while gathering valuable data for the rest of the weekend.
The Malaysian rider immediately showed encouraging pace, clocking a best lap of 1:26.295, finishing seventh, just 0.299 seconds behind the session leader.
Rather than settling, Hakim found another level during the afternoon Practice session, improving his lap time to 1:25.975. Once again, he ended the session in P7, but this time only 0.127 seconds adrift of the fastest rider, highlighting his rapid progression throughout the day.
The result comfortably secured him a place in Q2, allowing him to bypass the opening qualifying session and giving him a strong opportunity to challenge for another competitive starting position.
Indonesia’s Veda Pratama of Honda Team Asia topped the Practice classification with a best lap of 1:25.848, underlining the incredibly close competition in the lightweight class, where just over one tenth of a second separated the leader from Hakim in seventh.
Hakim arrives in Germany carrying enormous confidence after his breakthrough victory at the Czech Republic Grand Prix and another points-scoring finish in the Netherlands elevated him into the top six of the Moto3 World Championship standings.
His impressive debut at Sachsenring further reinforces his growing reputation as one of Moto3’s standout rookies, with the Malaysian consistently matching the pace of the championship’s front runners.
Saturday’s schedule will begin with Free Practice 2 (FP2) before the all-important qualifying sessions in the afternoon.
With a direct Q2 berth already secured, Hakim will focus solely on fine-tuning his machine for a potential front-row challenge as he targets another strong result ahead of Sunday’s German Grand Prix.
