Malaysia men’s national badminton team opened their Thomas Cup 2026 Group B campaign with a hard-fought 3-2 victory over England’s men’s national badminton team at Forum Horsens.
In a tie that swung back and forth, it was Malaysia’s talisman Lee Zii Jia who rose to the occasion in the निर्णायक fifth match to seal the win.

England responded strongly in the third match, with Cholan Kayan overcoming Sholeh Aidil in straight games, 21-16, 21-15 to put the Europeans back in front.
With their backs against the wall, Malaysia’s doubles duo Man Wei Chong and Tee Kai Wun stepped up with a commanding 21-14, 21-14 win over Alex Green and Zach Russ.
Their dominant performance ensured the tie would be decided in the final match.
All eyes turned to Lee Zii Jia—and the Malaysian star delivered in style.
He produced a clinical display to dispatch Nadeem Dalvi 21-13, 21-11, sealing a crucial 3-2 victory for Malaysia.
The win gives Malaysia a valuable early advantage in Group B, boosting confidence as they aim for a deep run in the prestigious team competition.
