Shukor Adan has confirmed that the Malaysia U17 National Team is mentally and physically prepared for their crucial ASEAN U17 Boys’ Championship 2026 semi-final clash against Laos. This tie could define the future of this rising generation.
Speaking ahead of the high-stakes encounter, the head coach made it clear: Malaysia’s mission is no longer just participation — it’s reaching the final.
Shukor emphasized that his squad has undergone detailed preparation, both tactically and psychologically, following a demanding group stage schedule.
“From a mental and psychological standpoint, we are ready. We have analysed Laos and understand their strengths. The players are prepared to compete.”
He also highlighted the importance of recovery after an intense run of matches, ensuring his squad remains fresh and injury-free heading into the semi-final.
Despite Malaysia’s confidence, Shukor was quick to acknowledge the threat posed by Laos — especially after their impressive victory over Thailand in the group stage.
“Laos are a strong and disciplined team. They have shown great commitment and organisation. We must be fully focused.”
The Malaysian camp expects a compact and hardworking opponent, capable of punishing mistakes.
Team captain Adam Muqri Muhaizam echoed his coach’s confidence, stressing the squad’s unity and motivation.
“We are grateful to reach the semi-finals. Mentally and physically, we are ready. We will fight with everything we have to win and reach the final.”
He also pointed to the team’s growing confidence after positive results in recent matches.
Addressing concerns about defensive stability, Shukor underlined the need for organisation and concentration:
“We must stay disciplined in defence. Laos have speed and can be dangerous in transitions, so focus is key in every moment.”
The blend of tactical awareness from Shukor Adan and the fighting spirit led by Adam Muqri Muhaizam has created a team that believes — and belief is often the difference at this stage.
