It was a night of highs and heartbreak for Malaysia as the Round of 32 at the Orléans Masters Badminton 2026 produced a split set of results across multiple categories on Wednesday.
From gritty comebacks to tough defeats, Malaysian shuttlers experienced the full spectrum of elite badminton on the HSBC BWF World Tour Super 300 stage.
The standout performance came from Justin Hoh, who delivered a stunning upset over fifth seed Chi Yu Jen in a thrilling three-game encounter.
After cruising through the opening game 21–9, Justin was pegged back in the second before holding his nerve in a nail-biting decider to win 24–22.
It was a statement victory — one that underlines his growing presence on the international stage.
In women’s singles, Wong Ling Ching displayed resilience to overcome eighth seed Beiwen Zhang in a dramatic three-set battle.
Winning 21–19, 13–21, 23–21, Wong held her composure in the crucial moments, edging a tense decider to book her place in the next round.
There was disappointment in mixed doubles as Wong Tien Ci and Lim Chiew Sien fell in straight games to Japan’s Akira Koga and Natsu Saito.
The Malaysian pair struggled to find rhythm, going down 17–21, 4–21 in a one-sided contest.
Meanwhile, Letshanaa Karupathevan showed promise but could not sustain momentum against Chinese Taipei’s Pai Yu Po.
After taking the first game 21–15, Letsshanaa faded as her opponent raised the tempo, eventually losing 16–21, 9–21.
