Lao Football Federation (LFF) has officially pulled the trigger on a new era, naming Serbian tactician Vladica Grujic as the man to lead the team into a massive 2026 calendar.
Grujic is no stranger to the streets of Vientiane, having served as an assistant back in 2010. Now, armed with a UEFA Pro License and a passport stamped by stints in La Liga and the J-League, he returns with total control over both the Senior and U-23 squads.
Grujic isn’t just a coach; he’s a football nomad who has seen it all. From the tactical battlegrounds of Real Zaragoza in Spain to the high-intensity environment of Buriram United and Cerezo Osaka, the 55-year-old brings a level of elite experience rarely seen in the Lao dugout.
His mission is clear: transition Laos from “regional participants” to “continental competitors.”
His first major test comes in just over a month when Laos hosts Nepal in a crucial AFC Asian Cup 2027 Qualifier. Following that, the focus shifts to the ASEAN Hyundai Cup 2026, where Laos finds itself in Group B alongside Thailand, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Myanmar.
