FIFA has officially notified its member associations and relevant confederations following a ruling by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), which approved a Stay of Execution application involving seven national team players.
The players concerned — Facundo Garcés, Rodrigo Holgado, Imanol Machuca, João Figueiredo, Gabriel Palmero, Jon Irazabal, and Héctor Hevel — had jointly submitted the application, which has now been upheld by CAS.
In its communication, FIFA instructed that all suspensions imposed on the seven players be put on hold with immediate effect, covering both domestic competitions and continental tournaments. This directive ensures the players remain eligible for selection and participation while the case continues through the appropriate legal and regulatory processes.
The decision marks a significant development in the ongoing matter, reinforcing CAS’s role as the highest judicial authority in global sport and underlining FIFA’s obligation to enforce its rulings across all jurisdictions.
Further updates are expected once CAS delivers a final decision on the substantive case.
