Kedah Darul Aman, a club in Liga Super Malaysia, has issued a statement to explain the FIFA-sanctioned ban on transfers due to lacking salaries for players.
Recently, news emerged from Asean Football’s social media site, listing KDA FC as one of the clubs banned by FIFA for registering new players. Although this news was released to the public not through the club’s official sources, the Malaysian Football League (MFL) and the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM), this issue has given a negative image to the club’s administration even though it has been dealt with appropriately with the claimant.
KDA FC is aware of the player transfer restriction notice imposed by FIFA on this club on March 4, 2024.
For clarification, this restriction by FIFA involves the claims of former imported players of the Kedah team in the 2020 & 2021 seasons related to the outstanding income tax records of imported players (the claimant) for that year.
Although several negotiation processes were held, there was a technical problem with the solution which resulted in KDA FC being punished by FIFA even though the player was completely free from the travel ban order for travel outside Malaysia.
This technical issue has been taken into account by FAM and MFL who have been aware from the beginning and the club management has duly followed the advice and a series of discussions were held with the parties involved.
A method of agreement was reached today in which the claims of the claimants were resolved. This transfer restriction status will also be lifted after FIFA receives the latest information on the solution from the claimant to lift the restriction and in the near future KDA FC will be free to register new players for the 2024/25 season.
