Kuala Lumpur City and Kedah Darul Aman, two clubs in Liga Super Malaysia, expected punishment from the Independent body First Instance Body (FIB) of the Malaysian Football League(MFL) to deduct 3 points if not resolve salaries arrears.
According to Tuan Sheikh Mohd Nasir Sheikh Mohd Sharif. President of Independent body First Instance Body (FIB) informed that Kuala Lumpur City FC (KL City) and Kedah Darul Aman FC (KDA FC) have failed to pay 50 percent of the total salary arrears for the year 2023 on the first date of 15 March 2024 as set by FIB.
As we already know, KL City has just experienced a change in the top management and KL City Patron YB Fahmi Fadzil through previous media reports has come forward to resolve the outstanding salary matters immediately.
In addition, FIB has also received an official letter from Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) agreeing to channel a donation to settle KL City salary arrears for the year 2023 before the end of March 2024.
While for KDA FC, the club has submitted proof of payment of RM 600,000 as partial payment of the current salary arrears however it does not comply with the payment of 50 percent of the total salary arrears as stipulated by FIB.
Nevertheless, FIB has received financial proof of the source of funds that KDA FC will receive in the near future.
Although the FIB gave room for KL City and KDA FC to settle the salary arrears due to the high commitment of the two clubs, the FIB is ready to impose action on the two clubs to ensure that compliance with the FIB directive is respected and taken seriously.
If KL City and KDA FC fail to settle all salary arrears by the second date of 30 March 2024, a penalty of three points for the 2024-2025 Super League season and a fine of RM 50,000 will be imposed immediately based on the MFL Club Licensing Regulations 2023 Edition “Article 2.4 (c) Licensing Sanctions”.
FIB will also reassess the club’s license status if it does not comply with the second deadline for payment of salary arrears and does not have strong finances to continue competing in the upcoming Malaysian League season.
