Datuk Haji Hamidin Mohd Amin, President of the Football Association of Malaysia(FAM), explained that this is the time for them to test the team in a better ranking position for Malaysia’s national team, starting with the action against Syria and China on FIFA Day in September.
“The time has come for us to start playing against the opponents we should meet for improvement (ranking). We can’t improve directly, for example to beat Brazil, but we are committed to that.” DHMA said.
“That’s why we started against highly ranked opponents like Syria and China. This is also a good test to see so this team can learn something and try to get a win.”
In addition, DHMA will look for the target of Malaysia national team to enter the top 15 of Asia in the FIFA World Rankings
“This is the process and the same for Pestabola Merdeka later. We meet bigger teams because we dream of entering the top 15 in Asia.” He said.
“We have to go through it like that, and we hope our team can be consistent to play,”
“It was all Pan Gon’s choice to meet all the teams we met before and he explained why.”
“This is the time where we don’t meet teams that we often meet before,”
