The highly anticipated 2025 ThaiGP Pre-Season Test has officially concluded after two days of intense action at Chang International Circuit, Buriram, where riders, engineers, and teams pushed their limits from February 12-13, 2025.
Spanish MotoGP legend Marc Marquez of Ducati Lenovo Team topped the timesheets with an impressive fastest lap of 1:28.855 seconds over 156 laps. However, he narrowly missed breaking the previous track record of 1:28.700 seconds, set by his teammate and reigning world champion Francesco Bagnaia.
Marquez’s younger brother, Alex Marquez of Gresini Racing, trailed 0.179 seconds behind in second place, while Marco Bezzecchi of Aprilia Racing secured third place, just 0.205 seconds off the leader.
Pedro Acosta (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) claimed fourth place with a lap time of 1 minute 29.133 seconds, 0.278 seconds behind Marquez.
Francesco Bagnaia, the two-time world champion, finished fifth, 0.523 seconds behind Marquez.
Joan Mir (Honda LCR Castrol) delivered an impressive performance to claim sixth place with a time of 1 minute 29.399 seconds.
Franco Morbidelli (Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing) followed in seventh place, 0.599 seconds off the pace.
One-time world champion Fabio Quartararo (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP) settled for eighth place, 0.731 seconds behind Marquez. Maverick Viñales (Red Bull KTM Tech3) finished ninth, while Jack Miller (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) rounded out the top ten, 0.762 seconds behind the leader.
Thailand’s very own Somkiat Chantra (Idemitsu Honda LCR) made history as the first-ever Thai rider in MotoGP’s premier class. He finished 20th with 1:30.465 seconds, 1.610 seconds off the leader after 131 laps of hard-fought testing.
Among the rookies, Japan’s Ai Ogura (Trackhouse Racing, Aprilia) impressed the most, securing 11th place with 1 minute 29.636 seconds. Spain’s Fermín Aldeguer (Gresini Racing) followed in 18th place, 1.230 seconds behind Marquez.
With the pre-season test wrapped up, MotoGP riders will now take a two-week break before launching into the 2025 season opener, PT Grand Prix of Thailand, from February 28 to March 2.
