Malaysia Women’s National Team kicked off their preparations for the 2026 AFC Women’s Asian Cup Qualifiers in emphatic fashion, securing a morale-boosting 3-1 victory over hosts United Arab Emirates (UAE) in a Tier 1 closed-door international friendly.
Despite arriving in Dubai just one day before the match, head coach Joel Cornelli’s squad showed no signs of fatigue, delivering a strong and cohesive performance that underlined their growing potential on the continental stage.
Goals from Nurfazira Muhamad Sani, Intan Sarah Anisah Zulgafli, and Nur Adrienna Zamzaihiri sealed the impressive win for Malaysia, giving the team a valuable psychological edge ahead of their Asian Cup qualifying campaign.
The match was part of a double-header between the two nations as they gear up for their respective Women’s Asian Cup 2026 qualifying campaigns. The second friendly will take place on June 22, also in Dubai.
Following that, Malaysia will travel to Tajikistan, where they will compete in Group H of the qualifiers.
