Four of Malaysia’s ten representatives have successfully advanced to the quarterfinals of the Malaysia Masters 2025, igniting national pride and thrilling thousands of home fans.
The day began on a somber note for the local contingent as Wong Tien Ci-Lim Chiew Sien, Loo Bing Kun-Toh Ee Wei, Go Pei Kee-Teoh Mei Xing, and Low Hang Yee-Ng Eng Cheong suffered early exits, bowing out in the Round of 16.
However, the tide turned when Man Wei Chong and Tee Kai Wun, the tournament’s fifth seeds, delivered Malaysia’s first win of the day. They produced a commanding performance to defeat Japan’s Hiroki Midorikawa-Kyohei Yamashita in straight sets, 21-17, 21-13, sending the home crowd into a frenzy.
Soon after, Malaysia’s top-ranked men’s pair, Goh Sze Fei and Nur Izzuddin Rumsani, continued the momentum with a solid display against Chinese Taipei’s Chen Zhi Ray and Lin Yu Chen, cruising through with a 21-19, 21-13 victory.
In women’s doubles, national stars Pearly Tan and M. Thinaah made light work of Thailand’s Pichamon Phatcharaphisutsin and Nannapa Sukklad, sealing their quarterfinal spot with an assured 21-13, 21-15 win.
The final cheer of the day came from Olympic bronze medallists Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik, who breezed past Chinese Taipei’s Ling Kuang Heng and Yang Po Han in another straight-sets triumph, 21-13, 21-16.
Meanwhile, the journey ended for two other Malaysian men’s pairs – Choong Hon Jian-Haikal Nazri and Kang Khai Xing-Aaron Tai – who fell short in their Round of 16 encounters.
