Malaysia national futsal team lost to the Thailand national futsal team, scoring 1-2 in the NSDF Futsal Championship 2024 Matchday 2 at Nonthaburi PAO Gymnasium, Nonthaburi.
The situation made the national goalkeeper, Aiman Fikry Ramli work hard to keep an eye on his goal throughout the match.
Thailand was in front in the fifth minute after Suphawut snatched the ball from the feet of Ahmad Harith Na’im Mohd Nasir and gave space for Apiwat to score the first goal.
Thailand increased the tempo of the game by creating many chances but Aiman’s blunt finishing and agility thwarted those efforts.
Entering the 29th minute, Thailand added a second goal through Alongkorn Janphon during a free kick situation in front of Malaysia’s D area.
Four minutes later, Awalluddin Mat Nawi calmly narrowed the goal deficit to give hope for the national squad to rise.
However, two of the best opportunities came through Awalluddin, one of which was denied by the goalkeeper, Arut Senbat, through a tactical ‘Power Play’ for the 1-2 position to remain until the end of the game.
The defeat saw the national squad now occupy fourth place with one point while Thailand is tied on three points with Australia in second place.
Next match, Malaysia will face Australia on 27 March at 5.30 pm. (Malaysian time) at Nonthaburi PAO Gymnasium, Nonthaburi.
