Selangor FC emerged victory in away match after beating Negeri Sembilan FC scoring 4-0 in the Liga Super Malaysia 2024/25 at Tuanku Abdul Rahman Stadium, Paroi.
The Red Giants, under the stewardship of new head coach Katsuhito Kinoshi, showcased their aggressive intent from the start. Their persistence paid off in the 15th minute when Alif Haiqal Lukman Hakim capitalized on a well-placed cross from Ali Iyad Ali Olwan. Alif’s sharp finish past Negeri Sembilan goalkeeper Tauffiq Ar Rashid Johar set the tone for the game.
Despite the early setback, Negeri Sembilan attempted to regroup and resist Selangor’s relentless pressure. However, their efforts were undone in the 39th minute when Alvin Mateus Fortes unleashed a thunderous 30-meter strike that rattled the post before finding the back of the net, doubling Selangor’s lead.
Adding to Negeri Sembilan’s woes, experienced defender Che Rashid Che Halim was sent off in the 43rd minute for a reckless foul. The red card left the home side with ten men, compounding their uphill battle.
Selangor wasted no time extending their advantage after the break. Just two minutes into the second half, defender Quentin Cheng embarked on a brilliant solo run down the left flank, finishing with precision to make it 3-0.
The match was sealed in the 60th minute after a costly error by Negeri Sembilan’s goalkeeper. Tauffiq failed to clear the ball effectively, allowing Yohandry Jose Orozco to pounce on the opportunity and slot home Selangor’s fourth goal.
Kinoshi’s tactical approach was evident throughout the match, with Selangor dominating possession and dictating the tempo. The Red Giants’ seamless combination of creativity, aggression, and discipline left Negeri Sembilan unable to mount any meaningful challenge.
For Negeri Sembilan, the defeat prolongs a difficult season, especially at home. Head coach K. Nanthakumar has yet to find the formula to turn the tide for the Hobin Jang Hobin squad, who remain winless in front of their supporters.
The emphatic victory bolsters Selangor FC’s pursuit of league leaders Johor Darul Ta’zim. With their form peaking under Kinoshi, Selangor look poised to maintain their pressure on JDT in the Liga Super title race.
The victory cemented Selangor’s position in second place on the league table, while Negeri Sembilan’s search for a home win this season continues.
Selangor FC will look to build on this momentum when they host their next match, while Negeri Sembilan must regroup quickly to address their struggles and restore faith among their fans.
