Kedah Darul Aman FC will not feature in the Liga Super Malaysia for the upcoming 2025/26 season after failing to obtain a National Club License, a requirement set by the Malaysian Football League (MFL).
The confirmation came on Thursday, marking a significant setback for one of Malaysia’s most storied football clubs.
In an official statement, Tan Sri Dr Mohd Daud Bakar, the majority owner of Kedah Darul Aman FC, addressed fans and stakeholders following MFL’s announcement.
“As announced by MFL, Kedah Darul Aman FC has not succeeded in obtaining the National License for the 2025/2026 season. This means KDA FC will not be participating in next season’s Super League,” said Tan Sri Dr Mohd Daud.
According to the MFL, Kedah and Perak FC were the two Super League teams that failed to meet the licensing criteria as determined by the First Instance Body (FIB).
Tan Sri Dr Mohd Daud revealed that Kedah’s failure to secure the license stemmed from financial non-compliance, particularly the club’s inability to resolve certain fiscal obligations within the timeline given by MFL and FIB.
“This failure is due to financial compliance issues that we could not resolve within the set timeframe,” he explained.
In his heartfelt message, Tan Sri Dr Mohd Daud extended his apologies to the loyal Hijau Kuning (Green and Yellow) supporters, as well as to the club’s sponsors, acknowledging their continued support amidst difficult times.
“To all Kedah fans and our valued sponsors, I extend my sincerest apologies. We understand the disappointment this news brings.”
Despite the setback, he reassured the club’s faithful that alternative options are being considered to ensure the long-term sustainability and relevance of Kedah in Malaysian football.
“We are exploring alternative solutions to ensure Kedah Darul Aman FC remains relevant in the future.”
