The Appeals Committee of the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) submitted by Johor Darul Ta’zim regarding the penalty of a fine for burning flares by its supporters has been rejected.
Previously, Noor Azman Hj Rahman, FAM General Secretary explained that the penalty letter for the offences had been sent to JDT on 31 May 2023 to inform the decision that had been decided at the FAM Disciplinary Committee meeting chaired by Datuk Dr. Baljit Singh Sidhu on 30 May 2023.
For the Liga Super Malaysia 2023 match, JDT vs Sabah FC on 31 March 2023, JDT was fined RM30,000 due to the actions of its supporters burning flares in an estimated 10 units and fined RM10,000 because JDT was found to have failed to comply with organizing obligations so as to allow entry and torch burning by supporters.
Next, for the 2023 Super League match, JDT vs Kedah Darul Aman FC on 9 April 2023, JDT was fined RM30,000 due to the actions of its supporters burning flares simultaneously with a total of approximately 30 units and fined RM10,000 because JDT was found to have failed to comply the organization’s obligation to allow the entry and burning of flares by supporters.
Meanwhile, for the 2023 FA Cup match, JDT vs PDRM FC on 14 April 2023, JDT was fined RM30,000 due to the actions of its supporters lighting 29 flare units simultaneously and fined RM10,000 because JDT was found to have failed to comply with organizing obligations, allowing entry and burning flares by supporters.
The decision was made by the Appeals Committee of the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) chaired by CP (Retired) Dato’ Sri Mohammad Mokhtar Mohamad Shariff to discuss a total of 4 cases.
For the first three cases involving Johor Darul Ta’Zim supporters burning flares, the appeal submitted by the Johor Darul Ta’zim Football Club was rejected, thus the fine amounting to RM120,000 for the three cases was upheld.
