Malaysia’s rising men’s doubles pair Arif Junaidi–Yap Roy King made a statement of intent at the BWF World Championships 2025 by sweeping aside their opening-round opponents in commanding fashion.
The world No. 22 duo, brimming with confidence after lifting their maiden World Tour title earlier this month, required just 26 minutes to dismantle Japan’s Kenya Mitsuhashi–Hiroki Okamura 21-5, 21-13.
Their next challenge, however, will be a far sterner test. The Malaysians are set to clash with Thailand’s world No. 12 pair Kittinupong Kedren–Dechapol Puavaranukroh, a seasoned duo known for their power and tactical sharpness.
Elsewhere, Malaysia’s other top pairs in the men’s, women’s, and mixed doubles events will begin their campaigns tomorrow, aiming to build on the positive start delivered by Wan Arif–Roy King.
