Malaysia’s National Women’s Singles shuttler Goh Jin Wei produced a career-defining performance on Saturday after booking her place in the first World Tour final of her career at the PRINCESS SIRIVANNAVARI Thailand Masters 2026.
Competing under the bright lights of the Nimibutr Stadium in Bangkok, Jin Wei battled past fellow Malaysian Wong Ling Ching in a gripping three-game semi-final — their first-ever meeting on the international stage.
The match began with Wong Ling Ching showing confidence and control, taking the opening game 21-17 to put Jin Wei under early pressure.
However, the former world junior champion responded with maturity and resilience.
In the second game, Ling Ching looked poised to extend her advantage after holding the lead, but a series of unforced errors allowed Jin Wei to claw her way back.
Jin Wei capitalised brilliantly, sealing the second game 21-17 to force a decider.
With the match hanging in the balance, Jin Wei carried the momentum into the third game.
As Ling Ching continued to struggle with consistency, Jin Wei stayed composed and took full advantage, closing out the match to win by three games 17-21, 21-17, 21-16
A landmark victory that sends her into uncharted territory — her first-ever World Tour final.
This achievement marks Jin Wei’s biggest milestone in the modern World Tour era.
It is also her third career final appearance overall, having previously finished runner-up at the Indonesia Masters 2016 and Taipei Open 2017. Both tournaments were held during the BWF Grand Prix Gold era, equivalent to today’s Super 300 level.
Standing between Jin Wei and the title is Indian rising star Devika Sihag, who advanced into the final after defeating Chinese Taipei’s Huang Yu Hsun in straight games 22-20, 21-13
The championship match will take place tomorrow in Bangkok, with Jin Wei chasing what could be one of the most meaningful titles of her career.
