Perlis GSA secured their first point after holding title contenders Kedah FA to a thrilling 0-0 draw in the Liga A1 Semi-Pro 2025/26 at Tuanku Syed Putra Stadium, Kangar.
Kedah FA, fielding experienced goalkeeper Rajendran and midfield orchestrator Asnan Ahmad, entered the match aiming for a full three points. The team was led by former Terengganu defender Pape Diakite, tasked with marshalling the backline and ensuring stability throughout the encounter.
Perlis GSA, meanwhile, opted for an all-local lineup in their campaign opener. The attacking trio of Faiz, Ikmal, and Nashrul spearheaded the team’s offensive ambitions, putting the Kedah defense under consistent pressure.
The visitors nearly broke the deadlock in the 13th minute, but their effort was denied by the crossbar, sparking waves of back-and-forth attacking plays from both sides.
The match took a dramatic turn in the 34th minute when Perlis midfielder Nasri Thauhid was shown a straight red card for a dangerous tackle on a Kedah player, reducing the hosts to 10 men.
Despite the numerical advantage, Kedah were unable to capitalize before halftime, as the first half ended in a scoreless stalemate.
In the second half, both sides continued to create opportunities, but the goalkeepers—particularly Perlis’ shot-stopper—put in commendable performances to keep the match goalless. Kedah dominated possession and launched several sharp attacks, yet the resolute Perlis defense held firm in front of a passionate home crowd.
Perlis displayed impressive discipline and commitment, successfully neutralizing Kedah’s attacking threats even with one player down. Both teams fought with great spirit until the final whistle, but the deadlock remained unbroken.
The match concluded in a 0-0 draw, earning both teams a valuable point as the A1 League season intensifies.
