Johor Darul Ta’Zim has emerged first position of finalist after beating Terengganu FC scoring 2-1 in the Unifi Piala Malaysia 2024/25 semi-final 2nd leg at Sultan Ibrahim Stadium, Iskandar Puteri.
The high-stakes clash saw both teams start aggressively, with Terengganu applying significant pressure in the early stages. However, it was Brazilian import Heberty who broke the deadlock, unleashing a thunderous shot that left goalkeeper Syed Nasrulhaq helpless, giving JDT a crucial lead.
Despite numerous attempts, Terengganu’s attacking unit struggled to break through JDT’s solid defense in the first half.
The visitors found their breakthrough in the 55th minute when Ismaheel Akinade beat Christian Abad Amat to level the score.
However, JDT responded decisively, with Heberty once again proving to be the difference-maker. His powerful second-half strike ensured the Southern Tigers sealed the victory, maintaining their dominance and advancing with an emphatic aggregate win.
JDT will now face either Sri Pahang or Sabah in the final, eyeing a remarkable Piala Malaysia hat-trick since 2022.
