Penang FC will headline an exciting international football showcase this August as Liga Super Malaysia side joins three Thai clubs for the inaugural Songkhla PAO Charity 2026, a tournament that blends competitive football with a meaningful charitable cause.
Organised by the Songkhla Provincial Administrative Organisation (Songkhla PAO), the tournament will take place from 7–9 August 2026 at the historic Tinsulanonda Stadium in Songkhla, with the official fixture schedule set to be announced in the coming weeks.
Representing Malaysia, Penang FC will face three Thai clubs in a unique cross-border competition featuring Penang FC (Liga Super Malaysia), Pattani FC (Thai League 1), Songkhla FC (Thai League 2), Nara United (Thai League 2)
The tournament offers Penang FC an opportunity to strengthen football ties between Malaysia and Thailand while continuing preparations for the upcoming domestic season.
The Songkhla PAO Charity Shield is designed to deliver more than entertaining football.
All proceeds, after operational expenses, will be channelled into public-benefit initiatives supporting sports development, tourism promotion, healthcare, and opportunities for children, youth, and local communities across Songkhla Province.
The tournament aims to demonstrate how football can unite communities while generating lasting social impact beyond the pitch.
The event is also a key component of Songkhla’s ambition to become a leading regional sports destination through its “Songkhla Sport City” initiative.
With Penang FC adding international flavour to the competition, the tournament is expected to attract football supporters from both sides of the Malaysia–Thailand border, creating a vibrant atmosphere and strengthening regional sporting cooperation.
