Johor Darul Ta’zim delivered a commanding home performance as they swept aside Myanmar’s Shan United 3-0 in the Shopee Cup 2025/26 Group Stage, Group B match at Stadium Sultan Ibrahim, Iskandar Puteri.
JDT lined up with Syihan Hazmi in goal, while Brazilian striker Jairo da Silva led the attack and Shane Lowry captained the side.
A major highlight was the return of three heritage players, who were back in the starting XI after receiving temporary clearance from the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) — a timely boost for JDT’s squad depth as the tournament intensifies.
Shan United, meanwhile, relied on goalkeeper Kyaw Zin Phyo and forward spearhead Moussa Bakayoko.
JDT controlled much of the opening half, with early attempts from João Figueiredo and Jairo failing to hit the target.
The Southern Tigers dominated possession and created several dangerous chances, but Kyaw Zin Phyo stood firm with multiple saves to keep Shan United level.
The visitors also threatened through defender Mouricio around the 30th minute, though Syihan Hazmi responded confidently.
Despite late pressure, including another near-miss from Figueiredo, the first half ended 0-0.
JDT returned with greater intensity after the break, and head coach Xisco Muñoz made key substitutions, introducing Bergson Da Silva, Yago Da Silva, and Syahmi Safari.
Oscar Arribas finally broke the deadlock in the 65th minute, rising to meet a pinpoint corner delivery from Yago César to put JDT ahead.
Just two minutes later, Bergson struck with clinical precision after an assist from Figueiredo, making it 2-0.
The Brazilian forward was not finished. Bergson completed his brace in the 71st minute with a superb finish, beating Kyaw Zin Phyo again to put the result beyond doubt.
Syahmi Safari nearly added a fourth from a free kick late on, but his effort drifted narrowly wide.
The final whistle confirmed a dominant 3-0 victory for JDT, a result that sends them top of the standings with 10 points and firmly in control of their Shopee Cup 2025/26.
