Thai League 1 giants Buriram United have officially parted ways with Portuguese head coach Mario Silva after a brief two-month stint, following a string of unsatisfactory performances.

The club management confirmed the abrupt dismissal through an official statement released across all their digital platforms.

"Buriram United FC would like to thank Mario Silva for his time as part of the Thunder Castle squad and wish him more success in his future football journey," the club stated.

Silva was appointed in early September to replace former manager Mark Jackson. However, his tenure proved remarkably short-lived, with the 49-year-old overseeing just 10 matches across all competitions. During that span, he recorded a mediocre return of four wins, four draws, and two defeats.

The tipping point for Silva’s dismissal was a shock 3-2 defeat at the hands of Sisaket United. His position was further undermined by the team's struggles on the continent, where Buriram have only managed to collect two points from their first three fixtures in the AFC Champions League Elite (ACLE).

Domestically, the Thunder Castle currently sit third in the Thai League 1 standings with 13 points, trailing current league leaders Port FC by two points.

As of publication, Buriram United have yet to announce a replacement candidate to take over the managerial hot seat at the Chang Arena.
