Datuk Haji Hamidin Mohd Amin, President of the Football Association of Malaysia(FAM), reply that ‘blackmail’ from someone in forward mail is a just personal attack only.
Previously, a few days before the 60th FAM Congress, a forwarded mail from a mysterious person in the name ‘Ultras FAM’ to the media regarding the issue of misconduct in the management of the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) involving the Malaysia national team.
Today, FAM will explain this in a press release after the 60th FAM Congress at the Grand Dorsett Hotel, Subang Jaya.
i) Everything stated by the writer of the letter in question is more of a personal attack which is mere slander and accusation. It is also seen to come from one or more individuals who are dissatisfied with the top leadership of FAM.
For everyone’s information, all matters involving finance in FAM are in accordance with the FAM Statute and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) that have been set, which is that they need to go through the respective Standing Committees, then be brought to the FAM Finance and Management Committee, before being brought to the FAM Executive Committee for approved.
Therefore, guided by the FAM Statute, a report on this matter will be sent to the FAM Integrity Committee, an independent body chaired by Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Dr. Aseh Haji Che Mat and lined up with his committee members including representatives from the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to be evaluated and refined. FAM is always open to investigation and will provide full cooperation in providing information on the allegations stated in the letter.
ii) FAM is also considering filing a police report regarding the letter because it has created a negative perception especially among domestic and international football fans and supporters, in addition to trying to get help from the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (SKMM) in detecting from where the original source of the e-mail is and if it involves FAM staff, an internal investigation will also be made.
iii) Regarding the issue of almost 12 FAM staff having resigned in the last three months, it is normal in a large organization when there are staff whose contracts have expired and have not been offered a new contract, in addition to staff who sent letters of resignation because they received a better offer from other parties as well as some who had to stop due to personal/family problems. No one has been fired as alleged in the letter. In fact, there are also some former staff who have returned to FAM after a certain period of time, thus proving that there is no management problem as claimed.
Regarding the issue of staff salary increases, FAM always follows existing procedures and regulations under the FAM Human Resources Unit where salary increases are assessed based on work performance, level of commitment, discipline, daily attendance records and related matters, and not based on favoritism as alleged.
iv) Meanwhile, regarding the resignation of the assistant manager of the national team, Datuk Wira Kamarul Ariffin Mohd Shahar, he himself has sent the resignation letter dated 29 January 2024, which is the return of the Harimau Malaya squad to the homeland after finishing the 2023 Asian Cup campaign in Qatar on reasons to focus on his business affairs. There is no term that he was stabbed in the back or otherwise because the resignation was by his own consent and request.
