Sabah FC failed to get comfortable preparations after tied with Perak FC with a score of 2-2 in the Piala Malaysia 2023 Quarter-Final first leg at Likas Stadium, Kota Kinabalu.
In the short action, Sabah started the goal as early as the fourth minute of the game with Darren Lok’s header from Kwang Min Ko’s pass which managed to beat Perak goalkeeper T Shaheeswaran.
However, the score only lasted six minutes before Perak managed to equalize 1-1 through captain Luciano Guaycochea in the 10th minute.
The efforts of players from both teams after that failed to add any goals even though each made several dangerous attempts until the first half ended.
Moving on to the second half, Sabah once again scored an early goal, just moments after the match started, Ramon Machado’s header received Saddil Ramdani’s pass.
The goal in the 45th minute put Sabah immediately ahead at 2-1, but just like the first half, Perak managed to equalize again nine minutes later.
The 2-2 position in the 54th minute was the result of a goal contributed by Wan Zack Haikal after receiving the ball from a corner kick before it was successfully headed straight towards the Sabah goal.
Pressured by this situation, the Sabah players began to act aggressively from 20 minutes before the end of time until five minutes after the injury, but still failed to score any goals.
Sabah obtained opportunities through attack after attack towards the end of the game, which resulted in several anxious situations in front of the Perak goal which failed to be exploited properly.
