Selangor FC advanced to Quarter-final after slashing Kelantan United with a score of 1-0 in the TM Piala Malaysia 2022 round of 16 at MBPJ Stadium, Petaling Jaya.
In the action involved, the match was more dominated by the home team and the best highlight of the first half was through Mukhairi Ajmal Mahadi’s fast free kick which was successfully deflected by Fikri Che Soh in the 19th minute.
Selangor almost opened the scoring at the end of the first half when Hein Htet Aung’s attempt was ‘dislodged’ from Shahrel Fikri’s grasp, but was immediately saved by the Kelantan United goalkeeper.
Continuing the second half, Kelantan United wasted the opportunity to score the opening goal in the 62nd minute when the handsome Julius Ziggy Ofori missed in front of the Selangor goal.
The goal Selangor was looking for finally came at the end of the game after Mukhairi Ajmal’s free-kick was headed by Nik Akif Syahiran into his own goal in the 90th minute.
Selangor FC also advanced to the quarter-finals last season before their steps were blocked by Kuala Lumpur City reigning champions on 6 November (1st leg) and 12 November (2nd leg).
