The groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the new headquarters of the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) in Precinct 5, Putrajaya was officiated by the Prime Minister, Dato ‘Sri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, this morning while witnessed by the President of FAM, Datuk Haji Hamidin Haji Mohd Amin.
The new FAM building will be built five storeys high and located next to the Asean Football Federation (AFF) headquarters in Putrajaya Football City. FAM, which has been based at Wisma FAM in Kelana Jaya since 1980, is expected to transfer all operations and governance to the new headquarters which is expected to be fully completed by early 2025.
Also present at the ceremony were the Minister of Youth and Sports, Dato ‘Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu; Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Dato ‘Seri Takiyuddin Hassan; Minister of Higher Education, Datuk Seri Dr. Noraini Ahmad; Deputy Minister of Federal Territories, Datuk Seri Jalaluddin Alias and President of the Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM), Tan Sri Dr. Mohamad Norza Zakaria.
Apart from the new FAM headquarters in Precinct 5, FAM is in the process of building a National Training Center (NTC) dedicated to the Malayan Tigers squad in the same precinct.
