History beckons at the Malaysia Masters 2025, as Malaysia is guaranteed its first men’s doubles title in 12 years with an electrifying all-Malaysian final set for tomorrow between Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik and Man Wei Chong-Tee Kai Wun.
The long-awaited breakthrough was sealed when Olympic bronze medalists and 2022 world champions Aaron-Wooi Yik stunned defending champions and world No. 1 pair Kim Astrup-Anders Skaarup Rasmussen of Denmark in a thrilling three-game semi-final at the Axiata Arena.
Despite trailing 9-11 at the first interval, the fourth-seeded Malaysian duo found their composure and tactical edge to snatch the opening set 21-19, igniting the packed home crowd.
The Danes struck back in the second game, exploiting unforced errors and breaking the Malaysians’ rhythm to win 21-17, forcing a deciding third set.
But Aaron and Wooi Yik were in no mood to be denied. They exploded into the decider with relentless attacking play, surging to a 9-1 lead before cruising to a 21-15 win, punctuated by a thunderous winner at the net from Wooi Yik.
Earlier in the day, Man Wei Chong-Tee Kai Wun delivered a statement performance of their own, dismantling Japan’s Takuro Hoki-Yugo Kobayashi 21-12, 21-14 in just 31 minutes. Their aggressive style and fearless approach have made them the tournament’s dark horses — and now they stand one match away from a career-defining title.
The final will be Malaysia’s first in the men’s doubles at the Malaysia Masters since 2013, when Koo Kien Keat and Tan Boon Heong last claimed the crown. Tomorrow’s clash not only ensures an end to the title drought but also showcases the depth and dominance of Malaysia’s doubles talent on home soil.
