Johor Darul Ta’Zim near to clinch 11th champions after beating Terengganu FC scoring 1-0 in the Liga Super Malaysia 2024/25 at Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Stadium, Gong Badak.
Playing away from home, JDT capitalized on Terengganu’s struggles, as the hosts missed four key players. Juan Muniz made the difference early, scoring a precise goal in the 13th minute, beating goalkeeper Rahadiazli Rahalim with a composed finish.
Terengganu’s best chance in the first half came through Akhyar Rashid’s header, but it failed to hit the target, leaving the home team trailing at the break.
The second half saw Terengganu intensify their efforts, with Badrul Afzan’s men pushing for an equalizer. Despite an organized defensive performance from JDT and a well-coordinated midfield, Terengganu’s attack lacked the finishing touch to break through.
JDT, known for their tactical discipline, maintained control of the game, and the Terengganu substitutions could not turn the tide.
The match ended 1-0 in JDT’s favor, marking their second win at Gong Badak in quick succession, following their Malaysia Cup semi-final victory.
With this crucial win, JDT edge closer to securing the Liga Super title, continuing their dominance in Malaysian football. However, both teams are set to clash again on February 1 for the Malaysia Cup second-leg tie, promising another intense encounter.
