Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) has officially expelled the Perlis Football Association (PFA) as an affiliate member of the national football governing body, effective immediately.
The decision was endorsed by FAM’s Executive Committee during its fourth-term meeting for the 2025–2029 cycle, confirming the earlier mandate given by the 61st FAM Congress.
PFA’s expulsion comes after the association failed to settle outstanding payments owed to its former Director of Football, Matthew Mark Holland, within the deadline set by FIFA.
Back in February 2025, FAM Congress unanimously approved:
- Suspension of PFA’s membership under Article 17 of the FAM Statutes until the full settlement was made, as per FIFA’s ruling on November 11, 2024.
- Termination of membership under Article 18 if PFA failed to clear the payment within six months from the suspension date.
With PFA unable to comply, FAM has now enforced the expulsion.
Leadership Restructuring in FAM
The Executive Committee also announced a restructuring of leadership roles within its standing committees.
- Datuk Wira Mohd Yusoff Haji Mahadi, FAM’s Acting President, will now lead three key portfolios: Chairman of the Finance & Management Committee, Chairman of the National Teams Management Committee, and Chairman of the Emergency Committee.
- Dato’ S. Sivasundaram, FAM Deputy President, has been appointed Chairman of the Amateur Football League (AFL), replacing Mohd Yusoff. He also serves as Chairman of the Technical & Development Committee and the Infrastructure Committee.
- Datuk Seri Rosmadi Ismail, FAM Vice President, is now Chairman of the Competitions Committee.
- Datuk Saaran Nadarajah, another Vice President, has been appointed Chairman of the Referees Committee.
- Dato’ Dollah Salleh and Dato’ Zainal Abidin Hassan, both part of FAM’s Exco, have been tasked with overseeing the National Football Development Programme (NFDP) and Akademi Mokhtar Dahari (AMD).
FAM reiterated its readiness to assume control of NFDP and AMD should the mandate be granted by the Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS) and the National Sports Council (MSN).
This expulsion marks another chapter in Perlis FA’s long-running administrative and financial turmoil, effectively cutting ties with the national football structure unless major reforms are undertaken.
