Selangor FC’s dynamic winger, Faisal Halim, has revealed the emotional and physical challenges he continues to face following the acid attack tragedy in May 2024 that left him with severe injuries to his left hand.
The attack not only caused significant physical harm but also deeply impacted Faisal’s ability to perform on the pitch. Speaking in an interview with Astro Arena, Faisal candidly described the hurdles he now faces daily as a professional footballer.
Faisal explained that his movements, especially with his left hand, remain severely restricted.
“It’s hard for me to raise my hands, it’s hard for me to move, it’s hard to run, it’s hard to kick, it’s hard to finish. I’m a flanker who always dribbles, always gets knocked down, always gets tackled,” he said.
He further elaborated on how the aftermath of the attack has changed his life and his footballing career:
“With the current situation, I feel like it’s not normal. Sometimes it’s hot, I feel heat in my body. My hands are not normal anymore. Not like normal people, not like other players. So what I can do is just get used to the current situation.”
Despite the limitations, Faisal remains determined to adapt and find comfort in his new reality.
Against the odds, Faisal has made remarkable strides in his recovery and has gradually returned to playing for Selangor FC. His resilience has seen him take the field regularly, and he has come close to scoring his first goal post-tragedy on several occasions.
The winger’s journey back to football has been nothing short of inspirational, as he continues to work tirelessly to regain his form despite the lingering effects of the attack.
The acid attack incident sent shockwaves through the Malaysian football community, with fans and fellow players rallying in support of Faisal during his recovery. His ability to return to professional football after such a horrific ordeal is a testament to his mental strength and determination.
Selangor FC and its fans have shown unwavering support for Faisal, with hopes that he will soon rediscover his sharpness and confidence on the field.
