Malaysian Football League (MFL) has confirmed that the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) Disciplinary Committee has penalized PDRM FC for fielding an ineligible player during the first leg of the MFL Challenge Cup 2024/25 final against Selangor FC at MBPJ Stadium, Petaling Jaya, on 15 February 2025.
PDRM FC introduced Mohd Safiee Ahmad as a substitute in the 58th minute, despite the player being suspended after accumulating two yellow cards in the Quarter-Final 1 match against Melaka FC and the Semi-Final 2 match against Kedah Darul Aman FC.
As a result, PDRM FC was found guilty of breaching:
- Article 57 (regarding ineligibility)
- Article 32 (regarding disqualification)
Punishment Imposed on PDRM FC
- Disqualified from the match
- Forfeited the match with a 3-0 loss
- Fined RM3,000
- Issued a stern warning (with the threat of heavier punishment for repeat offenses)
This decision is final and cannot be appealed.
Selangor FC had originally defeated PDRM FC 3-2, but following the FAM Disciplinary Committee’s ruling, the scoreline was officially changed to 3-0 in favor of Selangor FC.
Selangor FC now leads the tie 3-0 on aggregate and holds a commanding advantage heading into the decisive match.
The second leg of the Challenge Cup Final will take place at the MBPJ Stadium, Petaling Jaya, on 22 February 2025, at 9:00 PM.
