A dominant third-quarter explosion powered Johor to a statement 83-70 victory over Dewa United Banten in the BCL Asia-East 2026, as the Malaysian side reignited their campaign in emphatic fashion at Nimibutr Stadium on Thursday.
Trailing by nine points at halftime, Johor looked on the ropes—but what followed was a complete momentum shift, orchestrated by the brilliance of Scottie Lewis.
The high-flying wing delivered a stunning performance in the third quarter, scoring 13 of his game-high 28 points and single-handedly matching Dewa United’s output during a devastating 29-10 run. In a matter of minutes, Johor flipped the script—turning a deficit into a commanding 79-69 lead heading into the final period.
From there, there was no looking back.
Johor maintained full control in the fourth quarter, stretching their advantage to as many as 16 points to seal a crucial second win in Group A. Notably, the victory also marked their second consecutive triumph over the Indonesian Basketball League side—making Johor the only team so far to defeat Dewa United twice in this campaign.
Lewis’ all-around display was nothing short of elite. Shooting 50 percent from the field and an efficient 3-of-4 from beyond the arc, he added 4 assists, 2 steals, and 2 blocks to cap a performance that defined the game.
But this was far from a one-man show. Chee Wei Lim provided valuable scoring support with 12 points, including key three-pointers that helped maintain the tempo. Off the bench, Ting Chun Hong injected energy with 11 points in a timely contribution.
Meanwhile, new signing Marcus Lee made an immediate impact in his debut. The big man recorded a double-double with 10 points and 13 rebounds, while also contributing across the board with 4 assists, 4 steals, and a block—showcasing his versatility and value.
With the win, Johor improves to a 2-3 record in Group A, keeping their qualification hopes alive and building momentum at a critical stage of the tournament.
More importantly, the performance signals a team finding rhythm, resilience, and belief—qualities essential for a deep run in a highly competitive regional competition.
For Dewa United, the defeat halts their early dominance and exposes vulnerabilities against a surging Johor side.
