Machan FC has officially withdrawn from the Liga A1 Semi-Pro 2025/26 season after completing 22 matches, dealing a major disruption to the ongoing competition.
The decision was confirmed by Amateur Football League (AFL) Chief Operating Officer Mohd Raimi Fakri Mohd Fuad, who revealed that the league had received an official withdrawal notice from the club.
According to Mohd Raimi, Machan FC submitted a formal letter to the AFL on 3 April 2026, confirming their intention to exit the competition.
“The club has officially withdrawn from the Liga A1 Semi-Pro 2025/26 through a letter sent to the AFL on April 3,” he said.
He added that the league had made efforts to hold discussions with the club and attempted to assist them in resolving their internal challenges. However, Machan FC’s management ultimately remained firm in their decision.
“We tried to discuss and help Machan FC overcome the issues they were facing, but the club management stood by their decision,” he explained.
Following the withdrawal, the AFL announced that all Machan FC matches this season will be cancelled and declared null and void.
This means that all points, goals, and results involving Machan FC before their withdrawal will no longer be counted in the league standings.
Despite the disruption, the AFL confirmed that the Liga A1 Semi-Pro 2025/26 season will continue according to the existing schedule, with all remaining fixtures involving Machan FC removed from the calendar.
In addition to their withdrawal, Machan FC have been handed a one-season suspension from AFL competitions, meaning they will be barred from participating in the 2026/27 season.
The club has also been fined RM20,000, with the case set to be forwarded to the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) Disciplinary Committee for potential further action.
Machan FC’s exit marks a significant development in the 2025/26 campaign, as mid-season withdrawals can significantly affect league integrity and standings.
