His Royal Highness the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Al-Haj, has broken his silence on the recent unrest in Kuala Terengganu, expressing profound disappointment and “extreme displeasure” at the actions of individuals who claim to be Selangor FC supporters.
The Royal statement follows the arrest of 33 individuals by Terengganu police after a chaotic display involving flares and illegal substances at the Kuala Terengganu Drawbridge on February 1, 2026.
As the official Patron of Selangor FC, His Royal Highness issued a stern warning against the rising tide of hooliganism within local football culture. The Sultan noted with concern that such “immoral activities” and a “gangsterism culture” are increasingly associated with those donning the iconic Red Giants jersey.
The Royal Decree made it clear that wearing the club’s colors comes with the responsibility of upholding the dignity of both the team and the State of Selangor.
His Royal Highness has formally urged the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) to identify the masterminds behind the incident. The Sultan’s stance on sentencing is unwavering Maximum Penalties: Those found guilty should face the heaviest possible legal consequences to serve as a deterrent, and A Lesson Learned: The Sultan emphasized that strict punishment is necessary to ensure such “unacceptable” behavior is never repeated by other supporters.
In a move that could reshape fan management for the club, the Sultan suggested a drastic disciplinary measure for troublemakers.
Royal Recommendation: Supporters convicted of causing public disturbance or engaging in criminal activity should be permanently banned from entering any stadium for matches involving Selangor FC.
The statement concluded with a powerful appeal to the Red Giants faithful, urging all supporters to maintain self-control and safeguard the reputation of the team. The message was clear: loyalty to the club must be demonstrated through discipline and respect, not through chaos.
