The Malaysian Football League (MFL) insists that the culture of football thugs will never find a place in the Malaysian League.
MFL Chief Executive Officer, Stuart Ramalingam expressed regret over the incident of fights among supporters that took place at the Kuala Lumpur Football Stadium, Cheras yesterday.
Stuart explained that the immoral act has had a negative impact on the Malaysian League industry which is working hard to get a leniency from the government in this COVID-19 pandemic.
“First, I represent MFL would like to express my sympathy to the victims in the fight incident after the Kuala Lumpur City FC and Selangor FC action which I understand some of them suffered injuries due to firecrackers and others where it is clear this is an act that is not immoral.” MFL Chief Executive Officer, Stuart Ramalingam said.
“The stadium should be a safe place to have fun, relax and enjoy the sport of football, instead of being a center of fights with each other.”
“We do not want due to the actions of this small group, other groups to bear the consequences, thus making it difficult for all parties in the football industry to get special concessions from the government. So the MFL strongly condemns the actions of these football thugs, “he said in an official statement.”
In a similar development, Stuart informed that he had held discussions with Kuala Lumpur City FC Chief Executive Officer, Stanley Bernard and Selangor FC Chief Executive Officer, Dr Johan Kamal Hamidon regarding the incident.
He said the MFL was still waiting for a complete report from the authorities and hoped such incidents would not happen again.
“I have had discussions with Stanley and Dr Johan where they themselves are quite upset with what happened that caused some to be injured due to this fight.” Kuala Lumpur City FC Chief Executive Officer, Stanley Bernard said.
“Not only Kuala Lumpur City FC and Selangor FC but all the teams that compete in the Malaysian League strongly reject the gangster culture in football because that is not our culture.”
“This is because we all agree in this matter and I hope the football industry in this country can be free from the culture of football thugs.”
“Most importantly we must ensure that the stadium is safe for all fans and not allow the actions of a few to endanger children and adults for the sake of safety and a comfortable environment is needed for all supporters,”
