As the stage sets for one of the most anticipated clashes in Group F of the AFC Asian Cup 2027 Qualifiers, Vietnam head coach Kim Sang-sik has made it clear — unity and team spirit will be the driving force behind Vietnam’s push for victory against Malaysia on Tuesday night.
Both Vietnam and Malaysia began their Group F campaigns with victories in March, setting the scene for a decisive battle at Stadium Nasional Bukit Jalil (SNBJ) that could shape the trajectory of their Asian Cup dreams.
Despite leading the group and entering the match as reigning AFF Mitsubishi Electric Cup champions, Kim acknowledged that Malaysia’s rise — especially with the inclusion of five newly recruited heritage players — will present the biggest challenge for the Golden Dragons.
“This is the most important and will be the most difficult match in our path to the Asian Cup,” said Kim during Monday’s press conference.

“If the Vietnamese team plays well and remains united, we can secure full points, even away from home.”
Kim emphasized that Vietnam’s mission is clear — take control of the game, silence the home crowd, and bring the momentum back to Hanoi.
Malaysia, bolstered by new blood and the electric energy of a sold-out home crowd, will be no pushovers. The Harimau Malaya are unbeaten at Bukit Jalil under new head coach Peter Cklamovski and are eyeing this clash as a statement of intent for continental glory.
