Malaysia national women’s youth hockey team began their campaign at the Women Junior Asia Cup 2024 with a promising 3-0 victory over Thailand in their opening Group A match in Muscat, Oman.
Goals from Nurshamine Azureen Mohammed Badusha, Nur Syahirah Azwan, and Nor Zulaikha Nazihah Tamjit secured the Young Tigress squad’s first three points. However, the team struggled to capitalize on numerous penalty corners, a point of concern for the coach.
The team will utilize tomorrow’s rest day for training and video analysis to prepare for their high-stakes encounter against India, a powerhouse in the tournament.
Despite the win, head coach Lailin Abu Hassan expressed dissatisfaction with his squad’s overall performance and emphasized the need for improvement ahead of their clash with defending champions India on Monday.
