MBSB Bank Championship (MBC), or Liga A1 Semi-pro 2024/25 season, is gaining ground among local football industry players after 16 teams competed for the championship title.
The tournament which is now entering its second season of organization with the main sponsor being MBSB Bank shows an increase compared to the previous year which is 12 teams will take place on 1 June 2024.
Officially, these 16 teams are Armed Forces FC, Harini Selangor FT, Imigresen FC, Malaysian University, Melaka FC, YPM FC, Manjung City FC, PIB Shah Alam FC, Bukit Tambun FC, Machan FC, Gombak FA, Bunga Raya FC, KL Rovers, UiTM United, Kelantan FC and Putrajaya Athletic FC.
However, we have 3 teams from the competition last season has withdrawal, namely SAINS FC, Perlis United FC, and Sarawak United FC.
The Chairman of the Amateur Football League (AFL), Datuk Wira Mohd Yusoff Mahadi said, the increase in the number of team entries shows the confidence and support of the local football industry players towards MBC 2024/25.
Mohd Yusoff said that football competitions at the amateur level are now receiving more serious attention than before.
“This branding is not only aimed at the uniformity of competitions organized by the AFL but it is also expected to attract more potential sponsors to jointly empower the sport.
“The AFL will rebrand the name and logo of the competition by introducing the A1 Semi-Pro League as a breath of fresh air to the M3 League, the A2 League (formerly known as the M4 League), and the A3 Community League (formerly known as the M5 League),” he said.
